Social Events Calendar

Invitations to LoG Events are either posted or sent out via email (using the Bcc facility to ensure privacy). One officer maintains the Contact List for invitations as a discrete document (not for distribution) with respect for the special privacy needs of its members. The League of Gentlefellows also maintains the mailing list for Belles de Nuit, a social organisation for those who regard themselves as transgendered. There are normally between 30 - 60 gay people at our functions (easy to get lost in the group if you want to), and sometimes we invite our friends and family members to join us at a special function, e.g. a pre-Christmas Dinner. While the LoG specializes in celebrations for our own gay and lesbian members, it also shares in and supports other gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex functions run by associate organisations.

Some of our events are just for gay men and some just for lesbians, although most are for all members. Events in the Calendar are flagged appropriately, as follows:

Rainbow Flag The Annual Dinner and Biennial Address
Waterfront Hotel, Bellerive: Saturday 6 December

The League of Gentle Fellows in association with the Coming Out Proud Program, as part of the Human Rights Week Activities 2008, invite you to the Annual Dinner and Biennial Address. Senator Bob Brown and Justice Pierre Slicer will speak on the theme of 'Looking Forward - Looking Back', commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Salamanca Stand and the 10th anniversary of Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination legislation. Ticket sales for tables of 10 ($60pp) close on 20 November. The first 10 table reservations (100 seats) will be in the Dining Room. A further 60 seats are available on the Balcony. Table Captains can arrange busses from Huonville with booking from Roberts or water taxis to the Waterfront Hotel from Hobart and can ensure that special dietary requirements are catered for.

Hobart Town Hall, Wednesday 10 December

The Coming Out Proud Program Greater Hobart Community Liaison Committee wishes to notify community members as follows:

"A Hobart City Council reception will be held on Wednesday 10 December in the Hobart Town Hall to mark the 20th anniversary of action taken by the Council in 1988 to prohibit attendance of the Tasmanian Gay Law Reform Group at Salamanca Market.  An apology to those affected will be offered at the reception. 

Attendance is by invitation only.  For further information, contact Heather Salisbury on 6238 2770".
